Saying 43 : What Made Khabbāb ibn Aratt So Beloved to Imām ʿAlī (ʿa)?

(I begin) In the Name of Allah, the All-Kind (or All-Beneficent), the All-Merciful (or All-Compassionate)
Salāmun ʿalaykum dear readers,
For this week’s reflection on Nahj al-Balāghah, we will be revisiting Saying 43, where Amīr al-Muʾminīn (ʿalayhis salām) offers a heartfelt prayer for one of his loyal companions, Khabbāb ibn Aratt. In just a few profound words, the Imām (ʿa) beautifully lists five of Khabbāb’s shining qualities.
Since we have explored this saying in the past, today’s post serves as a gentle reminder of these timeless virtues — the very standards of devotion that Imām ʿAlī (ʿa) cherished. May we continue to draw inspiration from these noble examples.
